Hi,
Happy to be starting my New Years off with joining this forum! Thanks for a great forum, and Happy New Years to all of you!
I am building an electric kart for my sons. I have another post here about the accelerator.
I am using an electric wheelchair gearhead motor. I am wondering how braking will work. If the rider pulls his foot off the accelerator pedal, the motor should stop dead. Since it's a gearhead motor, turning the wheels won't turn the motor. Thus, the wheels will stop dead too.
This seems like a bad idea. It could break hard and either lose control or throw the driver forward.
How does an electric wheelchair do it?
Thanks,
Cosmo
