The difference is money. Although neither are really expensive. Both work fine for a yard kart but I would prfer a disk if I was building and had the money

i have disks and drums but i don't have bands and calipers but i found them both on eBay for under 25 dollars so the price wasent really a big deal for me i was just wondering what worked better and what would make more since for me to use.

Actual photos would be extremely helpful as well. There's nothing else that lights a fuse around here faster than someone who asks multiple questions without giving us visuals about the kart in question.

If posting photos is a challenge, some really sharp folk's here put together a really good thread on how to do it, across multiple hardware platforms.......

I believe it is a dead axel now. But in post 9 he said he is going to put a live axel. Also if you have seen his other thread and are following this build, he can fab and weld. So put the disc brake mount anywhere it will work, just fab a bracket. I have 2 band brakes PITA for sure, I voted disk

Even with a dead axle. You could take another wheel with a sprocket mount and flip it to the other side so you would have a mounting point for brake disc. Besides you could do awesome burnouts that way.

yeah i know i have to build a new mount for a brake but i just have to get the caliper first as i feel like i wanna put a disk brake on it i just have to add maybe six inches to the end to mount some new pillow blocks so i can have my live axel then ill add a bunch of support beams and some sorta bumper that i can try to have the motor mount centered, and i think ill leave the old "brakes" one there as a cosmetic thing i think they would be cool as fenders as when i first got it i thought they were fenders then i realized they were the tire destroyers and realized there was no way i could use that i can't believe that they thought that was a good idea

Thats sounds like fun. :thumbsup:The only good idea I have ever liked about a one tire fire dead axle.
