Brakes don’t stop

I bought a beat up kart with band break system. It sucks. I want to convert it to a mechanical disc brake. I have no idea where to start. I looked all over YouTube and the internet to try and find a conversion kit but came up empty. Anyone got some advice.

Also if anyone knows the make of this kart, I’d appreciate that info.

Those brake band systems usually "stop" an average yard/fun kart pretty good-ly

Does the brake band still have adequate "brake" material on it?
...the "friction" strip on the inside

Is the brake linkage adjusted?
...too much "slop" affects it's "gripping" power

Also, sometimes it helps to "scuff" the brake drum up a bit
...if it's too smooth, the brake band, can't "grab" too well

It looks like that is a one wheel peel kart..
To convert to disc, youll need a live axle. The whole rear end needs to be changed over, with pillow block bearings and keyed hubs for the wheels... Plus the Caliper/disc/bracket and the fab time for that...
