Brake Caliper problems

I've got a hydraulic disk brake system on my go-kart. Once I pull the brake lever(it's a lever, not a pedal), it doesn't retract the piston. I believe its an ATV brake calliper but I'm not sure. Any thoughts on why this might be? Thanks

Movement and vibration while on the cart should push it back enough it doesn't drag the pads, if not you'll need to either rebuild or replace the caliper unless you have TOO much fluid on the reservoir and it's not allowing fluid to travel back or have a collapsed (internally)/pinched/kinked brake line. It's safe to assume you've bled all air out of the system yes?

I can’t find the place to bleed the air out. What does it look like?

Sometimes they might not have any, it'll be the banjo bolt for supply...
Either way You'll have to crack that open a bit to bleed out the air...

I just had another look at the photos, that caliper looks pretty crusty and need a thorough cleaning. The slider pins should be sanded clean and lightly greased, the inside pad looks bent to me UNLESS that's how it was designed which I doubt.

Hey...it's been a while since I tried to resolve this problem and I'm back to try again! It squeezes together but it doesn't retract. I thought to "rebuild it" or change the seals.(I think this is what I should do) The problem is that I can't find the kit anywhere or even what kind of caliper this is. Can anybody help me out?

Like "Brianator" said make sure those sliders are clean and rust free (looks like you've cleaned them some). Also if you haven't changed the pads you should because the bent one is probably binding. If you can't find pads you should at least try to straighten the bent one. You should be able to find pads. Maybe search for "ATV brake pads".

As for rebuilding, if it were me I would try to find a new caliper that you can bolt on to your existing hanger. (FYI always mount your caliper so the bleeder is at the top so the air will migrate to it). Do you know how to bleed brakes ??? Here is a link that shows some calipers.
