Brake Band

I need a new brake band for my kart, and all of them come with a "brake pin"?

What is this used for, all i know is i take out the 2 cotter pins, remove old band, attach new..

So what is this "pin" for?

Looks like that "PIN" is what you weld/attach to the frame to have a pivot point for the band your fram probably already has that welded on..

Whatever it was, didnt need it...

How long are these bands supposed to last? Mine started squeaking after about 30mins... Got it from MFG supply

I'm just thinking it got hot, causing the squeak

they dont last long there not really the best braking method.
