I made some very simple ones for my kids' kart. I don't remember the exact size- I'll go out to the garage later but I think it was 1/4" or maybe 3/8" rod. I heated and bent the rod with a torch at a 90* angle so it looks like a large L, but upside down. The short side of the L is the pedal, the long side is the arm. At the bottom of the L, I welded a bolt for it to pivot on, and drilled a hole in the frame. I welded a washer partway up the shaft for a return spring to hook on to. Then, depending on whether the pedal is for throttle or brake, the cable/rod attachment is welded on.

About as simple as you can get. Pic later, if I can dig one up.

An Idea Is A Bit Of Plastic With A Metal Pole On Back Going Diagonal. There Quite Good :)

There's Only Supposed To Be A Capital Letter At The Beginning Of A Sentence Or When Referring To A Specific Person, Thing, Or Place. Reading Text Like This Can Cause Migraines.....

Anyways, pedals can be fabricated pretty easily. Building material, dimensions, and thickness will have to do with the specific application. Your best bet is to look around at some of the projects on this site. There are literally dozens of ways to make pedals for your kart. I actually quite like the pedals TS4WD describes. They could even be made into a more square or rectangle shape for more durability.

Picky, picky.

Is it pickiness or lack of sheer disrespect for the english language? *edit* I'm sure tons of people agree that it's downright annoying to read sentences in that format. The sad thing is it's actually MORE WORK to press shift for every word. The guy is going out of his way to type improperly.

Suggestion: Remove your shift keys. id rather read sentences like this Than Like This.

Macfalane, please, for the love of God (see proper capitalization), stop typing like that. How old are you?! Torque, this has been covered by me many times. He's 11 years old (in case someone doesn't know already) and thinks it looks "cool" and is a novel idea of his. Don't fight the battle or else you'll just be more frustrated.

Morons? Nice. (Flash forward to the near future...)

MacfarlaneRacers: Hey, MORONS, I Need Some Advice?

Usmorons: Yeah... Whatever.

MacfarlaneRacers: Please? I Really Need Help!

Usmorons: Sorry. Can't help ya. We're all morons.

Anyhoo... Bolshevic aside, here's what I was trying to describe before. It's just a length of 3/8" rod with a 90* bend in it, a tab welded on where the brake cable clevis will attach, and a pivot bolt welded to the end. Very basic, very functional.

Devino, I read your post directly under his rant, kind of glossed over the heads off walls, and read your signature as your reply. It was a total mistake but it fit 110%!

All thats really needed for a pedal is something that has a pivot and a place for a cable or rod to connect. Pretty simple.

But on the other hand, sometimes it's more expensive to make something that ends up only working half as well as buying something made for the task.

Azusa brake & throttle pedals are $5.50 each list price.

$11 may not be that expensive if you don't have the tools to cut and weld.

I bought an old kart with a motor on it and the pedals were 3/4" square sticks with a hole and bolt through the bottom bolted to two tabs of metal. He welded a few washers together, slit the sides, slid the cable through, then clamped them shut in a vise and welded the washers on to an arm off of the "pedal" stick.
