1 tube only? Get a tube at least 1.5".

Muffler? I ported and polished it. Got the threads out. Had 2 holes for a straight pipe. Guess what? I can't find a workable pipe... and I already removed the threads. Darn Briggs...

Anyways... it makes pretty good airflow. If I took the filter out, I'd get probably 3x more. It runs fine without the muffler. It's a shame to put one on. Sounds like a motorsickle :D

I'd like to see some other ideas though. This was a extremely crude idea created by a 13 year old. I'd like to see some pro work toos :)

Which tube gets the most airflow?

Could you tell me cause I think im going to do this except im only going to use 1 tube

Also, see if you could make a funnel of some type. You can drill where ever you want on the shroud...

Darn helpful button too close to quote button, Piece of water pipe welded to piece of steel scrap or cut up stock muffler?

Stock mufflers used threads. The 5 horse pipe doesn't work with 3HP blocks. And I don't have a welder either. I'm planning on one this summer, however.

you should be pushing cold air threw not hot you might want to figure some thing out on it to be able to cool the air done on it like a mini intercooler.

Exactly. Notice how it's on the side of the recoil. Those 2 holes capture most of the air. The top catches the rest.

Intercooler... interesting :p

First thing's first however, this is a 3HP. I'll need a billet connecting rod to get the most power out of it. Stock rod will hold up to about... 5000. The steel dipper will make it to 4200 or so before ripping itself off and making a mess...

:idea2: you know this setup might just work but i think it would work better using a smog pump instead of and doing a setup with it. i think this is something im goin to look into but i do like the way you are going but you need to post up video so people can hear it and see it and you need to see what your max is before you do this and after to see what true numbers it makes.other wise it might just be a guess on h.p. gain and not true numbers. remember with out proof no one is going to think it really works.
but keep up the good work kid i never really thought of it until i seen what you were doing.

Eh... kid as in me? :p

I'm thinking about connecting a carburetor to the air cleaner box (hey, it came offa a clone carburetor, didn't it?), thus, I can effectively turbo it, and inject a good gas/air mixture at the same time. No running lean, ect.

Sounds easy, huh?

Meh, I have a spare GX200 carburetor. Might as well...

But I've just run into a problem: Recoil rope broke

Pulling it. The rope was always too short, so I usually overpulled, but still, it shouldn't have broke that early.

Ah well, just drill 3 more holes.

what you could do is atatch a pulley to the cam
run a belt on it and put another pulley on a fan. make the fan where it is blowing into a hose (such as a vacuum hose) into the air intake spot

i think i may try it

I believe you mean "crank" not "cam". They are two completely different parts.
