Hydro brakes are the way to go because the hose flexes and changing distance is not a factor due to the fact that the hose is cut at a predefined length.

you can get kits on ebay cheap for hydro brakes.

Save you mechanical brakes for another project.

GoKart do you have any scrap yard around were you live or small mechanic lots anywhere around you?

I score quite a good car master cylinders,rotors,calipers,motor bike calipers...

The list could go on but you would be amazed to see what you could find .

Most of everyhting is cheap with a little bit of jew in down.

Garage door cable? I know I have that lying around. Anything that's recently heavy will suffice. Thread it thru cone type of housing to protect it. Maybe some hydraulic brake line?

I know yall are goin for brake cables and I see toy story explained it enough but a great ideah for throttle cable is going to a bike shop. They can cut it any length and it you need to cut the shield part use a grinder and cut off wheel. used cable on a truck I had with suicide doors and shaved handles worked great!

i am going to get some heavy duty cable to attach.... i was wondering the best way to attach it to the pedal and the brake arm.

Cable clamps? Can be bought at any hardware store and they are adjustable for stretch.
