Hope the link works....if not I'll post pix when (or if) if get it.

Keith with Margay says it's an Xpert II.

I'm looking to do a resto-mod on it. Can anyone give me info on what I should use as a powerplant?

Likely putting a clone on it to start out, but want a 2 banger on it eventually.

The factory marketing materal said it's available in "Red, Blue, or Black"... if anybody has any pictiures of the shades?

Leaning towards blue depending on what the origional color looked like.

Also need powerplant/pipe suggestions..............as I was on 2 wheels back in the day, & have no clue what this came with.

Thanks for the help.

Bob

Nup, link doesn't work... well, it works but doesn't link to anything specific.

2 banger? 2 stroke or 2 cylinder? I ask coz, over here, 2 banger means 2 cylinder but, who knows with you crazy yanks  :lolgoku:

No motor, just a bare frame. Will start out with a clone untill I can scrounge cash/parts parts for a proper 2 stroke.

Will post pix if I ever actually recieve it.

Looks like a nice chassis

Most all Race karts like that were typically sold just as a rolling chassis, (everything except tires and and engine/clutch). Then guys bought whatever engine-model they could aford, and that their class rules would alow.

You could research what engines guys used in racekarts like yours (back in the early-70's) at this search link:

You could check out some of the vintage Margay colors in this google Image search link:

Those pics are not all origanal paint, but chances are the high quality restorations would be very close to the same origanal colors...
