Can you link me to the 5hp powered one, thanks.

Well its hit winter up here in the north island, just cold miserable days.

I am enrolled for the July intake at tertiary education, doing a certificate in mechanical engineering, this means i have to get my car on the road.

So a slight priority shuffle at the mo, sorry to all following the build but its life im sorry!

Changes i have considered are - taking the foot peg back to behind the flywheel and moving the seat forward, so i think that's my next step.

It's the 13th Of June so i have about 3 weeks to finish my car, its got a bit of rust here and here and here and we found out after taking the carpet out the water was leaking from the heater core, since i bought another car to wreck for parts im swapping the new one in this week, which means taking the whole dash out... fun.

But i can only work in the dry on my car so when its wet ill work on the bike.

Had a look at the hamb, great site thanks for link!

If you really like my frame you can copy it if you want, i can give dimensions, parts needed,

Im a person that likes blending old with new, the steering head was off a
20" bmx bike, so roller race bearings, adjustable handlebars, all the convenient stuff made to look old, have a look around for old rowing exercise machines... frame was built off one, a pipe bender would work though, the curved bars i think were just sections from a wonky circle, i didn't even cut them out!

Briggs 5hp would make it fly, of course a vintage would look more nostalgic but it depends what time period you were setting it in. - you could modify the shroud.

One of those old old vintage victa's would look cool - the old ones not the new - the model with the pull starter on the side, it has a cool curvy flywheel, any villiers midget models, any villiers 4 strokers, but then again very heavy :p

Hope its food for thought,

I need to find a villiers taper to machine a pulley onto before i can setup the jack shaft now that i remember.

Cheers Cam

this briggs is old i havent decoded it yet but its pretty old...im working on plans right now but im going after this one here..
Ima be using the wheels and mabey even the majority of the frame from scrap bikes or just scrap metal bent up... i dont have a tube bender i wish i did i might have to borrow one to make some of the complex curves.

That bike looks really clean - the first one in the pics.

He's done a jack shaft behind the motor - is the 5hp Briggs you have an old motor?

Hmm yes, mine is 150mm approx from the ground, nice and low is the way to go, pics?

Im not sure where it will sit with the new white wall tires from hedgehog cycles, but not too far off 150 anyway, i think anylower and you will have turning / clearance issues, are you gonna rake the steering?

Cheers

Yeah, pinching simply means taking the two tubes and bending them so they meet in the center, have a look next to my steering head - if you were going to do the kick - up on the bottom tubes on the rear of the bike, they need to be bent after pinching/fish mouth~welding, other wise they point inwards to the wheel.

Cheers Cam.

alright i see what you are talking about... i might go with one single tube down then have it go off into two different tubes on the bottom with the engine plate on top
