I havent noticed many reports of problems with any of the Blue Max series but I was thinking you should probably consider the 13hp instead of the 11. More power/torque and Its the same physical size and weight. This price seems pretty close to the 11hp range: http://www.aquasuperstore.com/produ...ontal-Shaft-Gas-Engine-Four-Stroke~47870.html

A few guys have reported good luck with Tecumseh engines but many others seem to be constantly complaining of problems.

The drawbacks to most any of these larger engines is they weigh more, take up more space, require a larger sized motor mount patern and need a more expensive 1" bore clutch. I've instaled a couple other brands of simalar sized engines in my kart and know the performance over a 6.5 was definitely worth the extra effort and cost.

those power max's are pritty good motors, I advertise them on my site, they have electric and pull and the shipping is free. the company that you would find them at is Max Tool. Go to there search and type in (power max) good motors for the prive.

with a centrifugal clutch no, torque converter maybe. I would just look for a bike engine, much much better in every way.

Hey thats a good bit more power than a 13hp. The 16 might not have as much RPM potental as an 11 or 13hp, but even left stock you should be able to gear a lower ratio for more top speed and still take off the same or meyby better than a 13hp. You'd have to spend hundreds more to even get close to that much torque from a 6.5 engine.

For a clutch to survive at the 16hp level, you'd most likely be getting into the over $100 price range. With up to 13hp, you could probably get away with one of the lower cost 1" models for awhile. (most of the under $100 / 1" clutches are only rated for use up to 8hp, I've heard of these surviving for a while with 13hp but I'd think a 16 would really be pushing it)

If you wanna research these size clone motors, click here: http://karting.4cycle.com/forumdisplay.php?f=81 and type GX420 into the search widow. (I cant remember for sure but you might have to join that forum before you can preform searches)

With a cent clutch and a Briggs flat head nope but a bigg engine like mine And a belt slip clutch or a bike engine like kaptian it's very possible.
