Just came back from a Harbor Freight parking lot sale and they had the 6.5 blues for $65!!!!   :eek   :eek:ut: :eek:ut: :eek:ut: :D :D :D :D :mad2: :mad2:

I was sooooo tempted to buy a couple but I don't really have a need for them. I don't know if they have them at that price at all locations but it might be worth a try to check at your local HF.

WooHoo! I'm going to check my local HF! These motors are worth it. Very dependable, and box-stock, they'll make your creations MOVE... even if you're just replacing a briggs or whatever! I put one on my son's DoodleBug mini bike, replacing the little 2.8 hp engine and keeping the gearing the same. Same top speed (27 mph) but you can beat traffic across intersections with it! (Heh,heh!) Too bad Harbor Freight doesn't sell the chinese clones of the Comet Torq-a-verters!..... (HINT)

My son's MiniBike is the Orange DoodleBug bought from PepBoys for $250. It has a clone engine of a Honda flathead (Lifan 2.8hp) and stock, it'd hit 27mph, even with my Lard-Butt on it. The HF 6.5hp REALLY makes the little thing scoot, though. My daughter (100lbs soaking wet) Can get it to do 20' burnouts in dirt when she takes off from a stop. God help her if it were to hook up after spinning for a bit. I should video it- pretty hilarious to watch. BACK ON SUBJECT, even at $130, the HF 6.5s are WORTH IT.

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my DB30. Did you have to do anyhting special to fit the engine? My engine which is the 6.5 hp jiang something (blue one) is pretty wide and for the crank shaft to line up with the sprocket, it has to almost hang off of the engine plate.

Yeah, I had to drill a new set of holes so the engine would line up... the motor doesn't hang out as bad as you'd think. If you want I can post a better picture of it from the top....

I kept the stock gearing and the governor, so it accelerates like crazy to 27mph, then it kinda goes quiet.... not much of a load for the motor, I guess. The brakes LOOK impressive, but they seem to require constant adjustment. I could probably up the top speed by messing with the gearing, but to be honest- this thing is a bit squirrelly, and our best wipe-outs have been on it.

I am almost done with putting my 6.5hp blue engine on my DB30. The only thing left that i have to do is to make the engine compatable with the twist throttle. How do i do this? i cannot find anything that would help at any hardware stores. This is my first project and i do not have alot f know how so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Run the throttle cable up to the engines throttle handle. (Ours connected with a bent paper clip) and clamp the outer part of the cable in place. The HF blue engine has a few provissions for this, but you gotta pull the aircleaner to see the set-up.
