Blue clone questions **update**

Update, I wanted to thank everyone for their help on my problem. I tookt he carb apart and cleaned it with carb cleaner and reassmbled it an it runs much better now. Thanks again!!!

Hello I am new here and have a few questions for those who own the Blue 6.5 motor.

1) I bought mine new from HF about a year and a half ago. It ran perfectly (obviously) when I first got it. I stored it for most of a year. When I got it out to put it and a "Torqe A Verter" on a 3-wheeler frame I own. It has to be choked to start and only runs when half choked and even after it has been running a long time it has to be choked to start. Any suggestions on what causes this?

2) Does anyone use a Blue Clone with a "Torqe A Verter" brand torqe converter? If so what do you use it with? ATV, Go-cart or ??? How does it perform and what size engine do you use? I am a little dissapointed so far in how this engine pushes the 3-wheeler. Obviously the poor running related to question #1 may be the issue here.

3) Where can I buy a good throttle kit for this engine? I bought a mini-bike one but it doesn't seem to work very well. Related to this question is do you to take the manual "arm" throttle off to use a throttle cable kind?

4) Do most people either take the governor off of theirs?

Thanks for any replies. Charlie

you post this on another forum? lol...

I would tend to think that carb may need cleaning.. choking it so it will start isnt that big of a deal..
also replace plug..
yes you can take gov. out..
throttle kits are sold but there are MANY ways to hook the throttle up on these motors.

and welcome to the board!!

Yeah I posted on another forum too. Hoping to get answers to my questions on this. Is there a drawing or pictures showing how to remove the gov? Is there benefit to removing the governor? I am looking for quick power up front not necessarily top end speed. BTW I didn't really say this in my original post but I have to choke to start even when the engine is warmed up and have to leave the choke on halfway to keep it running.

I'm hearing about this problem more often than usual.
This is usually caused by not draining/running the carb dry before storage.
Could be a resulting varnish problem which would cause the lean condition described.

So a good carb cleaning is in order then. Thank you.

proly some crapy build up keeping the main jet from supplying the fuel you need at the proper vacuum thus needing extra vacuum from the choke. just clean it out good.
