G'day guys, im from Perth Western Australia im 24 and a concreter aha and I'm new to forums and go kart building scene. I am currently building a twin engined off road buggy/ sandrail looking kart to the best of my ability and I'm at the stage now where I need some really good tech talk on my ideas/ theory's I wanted to run. Just quickly what's the best way to run this if possible.. 2 x 125cc semi auto (reverse N 3 up) pitbike engines To a live axle/ jackshaft type deal ie lengthen atv axle or a home made chain sprocket irs mounted on pillow blocks in a cradle type setup with 1" keyed in u joints, to individual shafts for each wheel etc.. Or run completely separate to each rear wheel and only wire the cdi's together to make them fire in sync.. If it all works right what's the best gearing setup as well.. The wheels are 21x7-8 at front and 18x 10-10 rears? 15t sprocket 428 chain..
Bare in mine its on the cheap sort of and I don't have the ability to purchase half as mucH parts as you guys do! Australia sucks for that lol . Thankyou

Welcome to the forum!!!!

Let me start off by saying....for someone new to forums (and this one).... You've done almost everything right.

Some of these knuckle headed new members should take note! You filled out a profile location and included pics!

You also provided quite a bit of information....the only problem being your post ran together a bit which made it a little harder to read.

One of our mods is from down under as well as at least one other member. And from them....we are well aware of the scarcity of gokarts and parts in your treacherous piece of Heaven on earth.....:lolgoku:

Thanks mate this forum was the catalyst in my buggy ideas n I lied sorry I had a brief go at a forum when I had my ls1 turbo Holden, I realised I'm shocking with the whole laying out of my text but I'll get there eventually.

I read thru many posts to find, stating your details was important! As well as pictures. Cool as glad to hear some Ozzie guys are on here as well, Hope to get a few more detailed picture ups tomorrow. Let use pick my work apart LOL! Cheers

No worries....one of those members was Fowler...who's posts were absolutely atrocious....

But we gave up on trying to rehabilitate him....and put up with him because his information was so helpful and....he just wasn't going to change.

He hasn't been very active lately....maybe he decided to walk around barefoot....

... & I'm the other Aussie he mentioned... Welcome to the forum, Jonah...

You're doing well on the frame but, I would suggest you put in a few angled braces; any time anyone mentions a buggy frame, there's always at least one who says "use lots of triangles..." ;)

Now, we've seen a few twin engine karts, last years build off winner was a twin engine kart but, the engines were identical Predator 212cc engines (a type of Honda GX200 clone), single speed, with identical hardware one both engines...

Yes, you have the same thing, two identical engines with identical hardware but, you have something else, multiple gears...

I'm not saying it can't be done, please prove me wrong,; what I am saying is everything will need to be dialled in to the nearest micron; if not, things could go disaterously wrong...

Imagine this: You're driving the finished buggy, having fun then, you short shift a gear; one engine shifts, the other doesn't; suddenly, you have one engine fighting the other, meaning something is gonna break or you're now driving in circles (depending how the axle is set up...

For your sake, I hope you succeed; keep us updated...

Cheers fabro man, Triangulation was the next thing for the frame I gathered that just run out of $$ n steel atm to finish it off.

Glad you blasted me with info regarding the twin motor setup, would it be easier for me to swap too 2x125cc autos? In my head the easiest part was getting them to shift together but in saying that, the whole one motor shifting up a gear and one not has really got me thinking.

Idea in me head originally said to run a motor per back wheel? Like cutting the front of a motorbike off n welded it to the back end of me buggy type thing... bit more research I think..
I will post some more pics soon cheers

Umm, no, that would actually be worse; at least with a manual, you know when it will shift, an auto will shift when it wants to, not when you want it to...

Again, I'm not saying "don't do it", you just need to be aware of all the little details that make the difference between a great machine & a dud with the turn of a spanner...
