I found this kart on craigslist for 90 bucks and just had to have it so here it is. guy i got it from says it was his brothers old racing kart from when he was younger so i'd say its pretty **** old. the motor is just a briggs 5hp from what i can see now. although the governor is not there anymore so its either a blown 5hp briggs or a raced out one =) lets hope its the latter. here are some day 1 pics i will update as much as possible.

Yeah, hey I was wondering if that ended up being a live axle or not?

yes it is a live axle and i got the motor apart today... no billet inside =(. oh well any who i was wondering about the governor set up on this motor. the throttle is connected to the butterfly on the carb but the governor is still there. can i just replace the connecting rod and pull the gov out completely? here is a pic of inside the motor right after i pulled the side cover off.

Just yank the gov and did the rod snap?? if so u may be able to just replace it if the cyl isnt worn down to hell.

nope all the internals look in good shape no wear or gouges in the cylinder wall. here is a pic of how the throttle was attached to the carb

alright if you want you can replace the rod you dont need to just dont hold it WOT

sounds like a plan to me the parking lot we ride in only has enough straight for about 30 seconds max of WOT

Raptor Rods are only about 20 dollars on Ebay, an investment worth making...me thinks.

Remember, the flat side of the dipper faces towards the valves and the X on the piston faces to the exhaust port. Also, might wanna pick up some new rings. Just a thought for when you are in there.

Also, the rod top, can only fit on one way. The other way and it will bind hardcore.
