Bike transmission and sprockets

Thanks guys, this idea obviously isn't going to work. Do you have any other ideas for a transmission that are cheap?

If you used twin belt drive setups (with different ratios) between twin jack-shafts you might be able to switch ratios by a single belt tensioner that tensioned belt "A" in one position and belt "B" in another position.

It would probably just chew up belts though and again work only marginally.

What kind of HP are you talking about here?
