Well not having fab project been killing me. So I went on the hunt and found my next project. It's an older micro midget 600cc race car. I paid $500 for what you see. I then paid $200 for an 2004 500cc Kawasaki Ninja. My biggest fab work is going to be changing to larger containment seat. Move foot controls forward a bit. It also looks like it had many different engines over the year. So I will clean that up. It had 2002 yz 250 engine set up now. But being older fat guy I need electric start. I won't be racing it. I really don't know what I will do with it. It's just cool imo. I hope not to have more than $1000 total. A tad more if I buy sand paddles to race at sand drag flats. Not sure. That or the ultimate gravel lot drift machine.

Pics as always. And hello to all my old friends.

Welcome back. Nice find and a good bargain I think. What are your plans for it, just hel-raisin' or what?

It looks deceptively like a full size sprint car. You should sit in it or lay out a yardstick for scale.
Quite cool.

Probably sand drags at the dunes. If that's even possible. **** the old lady off down the street. And probably trade it down the road. That seems what I do with all my projects. Full size sprint cars are v8 powered. This was originally 600cc class. 13" wheels. I got it stuff away in carport or I would take some scale pics.

Got my mock up engine out. It's ninja 500cc that is trashed. I picked up another 500cc ninja for $300. Gonna use this one for mock up.

No way this was a 600cc class car. Probably 350cc class. But then again just not sure. Going to have to use jack shaft set up. Anybody know where I can find a 520 pitch sprocket for a jack shaft? 520 sprocket with keyway.

Will have gearing questions soon. Just got to get basic info on the ninja shift points and rpm along with tires height first.

Ops forgot pics. This is just laying in the cage now. I am cutting all old mounts out and starting over. It I need to figure out gearing and 520 jack shaft sprocket first. And that's hoping the axle sprocket on it now is 520.

After a few beers in my trusty chair. I am pondering to mount the engine on the drivers right side. The sprocket would line up perfect. I just got to swap brakes and sprocket on the axle. To mount on original left side I need to fab mounts and jack shaft. Find and buy the parts. To swap brakes to other side I just need to notch that plate with holes in it to accept the caliper. Also drill two holes to mount caliper. Seems easy enough and lots less work.

So unless I am missing something it's going on the drivers right side. Pics as always. So what you think. Won't be racing this just a kart.

Mock up on drivers right. Look great so far. I got to totally reconfigure seat area for my size. Center the car for it all set up to turn left. Brainstorm motor mounts. Anybody got pics or link of nice engine mount set up that might work for me?

Need help with gearing. The whole concept confuses me. I see the calculator but the trans shift points confuse me. I think I got all the info I need. The car had two different rear tires. One is 19" the other is 20" not sure which one I will be using. But hope for the 20". I posted pic of the ex500 1993 Kawasaki ninja trans specs. I need to buy both front and rear sprockets it 520 chain. I am not racing. Just want all around gear. Not looking for crazy top speed. Any help here would be cool. Thanks.

Not sure if I need to post rpm or not.

Front I can get 14 15 16 17 tooth 520 for the ex500 ninja engine.

Rear looks like 41 to 55 rear for 520.

Thanks.

Another question. Pivot point? Do I need to mount this engine in line or even with the pivit point of the suspension? Or even with the trailing arm? Any factors here I need to consider before I mount this engine in its final spot? Thanks.

Still need help with gearing.

Worked on the motor mounts this weekend. Just going with the flow I guess. Gonna wait till it's in the car before I build the front bottom.

Hardest part of this job is fixing all the previous owners hack jobs.
