Big Tires - clutch won’t work

I’m trying to restore a project kart - I have a live axle set up with 20” tires and a predator 212 - driven sprocket is 60 tooth and my 10 tooth clutch will barely catch - gets super hot and won’t catch - any ideas? I considered a heavy duty clutch, but the small print says will work on up to 18” tires - flat surfaces

Yup.. need to change the ratio...
Might be around 7 or 8:1
You also will need most likely a jackshaft...

Would it be easier to do a torque converter - or am I still gonna have problems? To use torque converter - I would have to raise and move motor too...

depending on the weight of the kart..
you look more into the realms of 12:1 actually (with as little as 150kg or 330 lbs)

yes a TC will certainly help;
a series30 TAvKit might already do the trick
(if that kart is below 157kg or 346lbs with passengers seated that is)
more weight and you still need a bigger axle sprocket.
