Well, I'm new here but its about time I start my Mud buggy, Sand buggy, project!

any way it starts with a big go-cart, a 250CC Honda rebel engine, and a 99 Kawasaki Mojave.

I plan in using the Wheeler's suspension and wheels and widening it with the go cart frame.

any way let me know what you think I will post progress pix.

I plan on using this body.

This is gonna be interesting. .... Welcome. ... hey, you're gonna need to beef up that frame to utilize suspension. .... it wasn't designed for that and might mess it up. Looks like a great project ! Love the body.....

:iagree:

Yea man... thanks for the advice I was kind of thinking that too... what frame is there right now is only like 2" tubing, and I know I want at least roll bars maybe a roll cage. I want the thing to look like a mean hot wheels car when I'm done.

Yep, thats a cool lookin race buggy. Always loved them things,so i got a sandrail. Now my son and i are building a buggy for him. Look for "crossfire kart" to see what we are working with. Your frame is made out of 1" steel tube. With what you're planning for it's "new" use is gonna kill it. You might consider starting fresh with new tubing and all the parts you have collected. Build a new frame that will allow body to mount, AND take the abuse, i mean fun you want to have with it. What kind of fab skills you dictates what you can build, so if its not "super awesome" the first time, it will be better on the next one. You will have a cool buggy eventually. Just don't give up,its not easy first time out the gate.... Post up some more pics of what all you have and maybe someone can guide you into putting together something real nice....

looks good. It is a great decision to take the 4-wheeler suspension and tubing directly off and weld/support it directly onto the kart w/o much modification. Front suspension/steering is the thing I am least comfortable with out of all things buggy/go karts.

Thanks man, I figured it would be the fastest / easiest to do things... I might not use the body after all. I might just do a sheet metal body. something light though.

Yeah, if you want to go the easy way, cut up the atv frame and utilize the suspension and not have to waste time fabbing to make things work. Cut it behind the front suspension, then stretch it into a buggy. It could be 1 or 2 seat. Look at some sand rail builds like on thesamba.com , search HBB OFFROAD on that site. Or the gallery. If you want , i can draw you up something simple using the atv frame as the main components. Just pm me ...

what's up with the photobucket stuff? just upload your pics on here like everybody else! :)

you do NOT need to use photobucket. just "go advanced" manage attachements, browse to upload from your computer, upload, and you're done.

another BIG problem with photobucket pics on here is that eventually they get deleted. then years from now when somebody could have benefited from your pics - they won't be on here anymore.
