Update: I guess the guy had second thoughts on that midget chassis. I'm curious now.. is it even a midget chassis? I can't find anything online that shows me what it is. It doesn't match anything..

Midgets, quarter midgets and micro midgets have all had full roll cages since the 1970's. Quarter midgets have suspention and look like these pics: https://www.google.com/search?q=Qua...aE8LwoASu0IH4Dg&ved=0CBwQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=643

I think that craigslist frame was an electric-powered, rental kart. Its vertical motor mount looks fairly similar to the motormount pics you'll find (at the bottom of the page) at this electric rental kart site: http://kartingsingapore.com/wp/?p=1005 although maybe not the same brand.

PS:
5'-11" tall guys will fit in most any racekart fine, I'm 6'-6" /235lbs. and fit just fine. The racekarts with extended front porches simply allow tall drivers to straiten their legs a little more.

Any rust is actually just surface. The whole tjing was originally painted so im going to just sand blast and then spray her up. As for the frame any ideas or tips to what i should start doing would be great!!

The first thing I would do is make it a roller. Get the spindles,wheels/tires,bearings and axle. Get a brake kit with hydraulic brakes, disc, hub, ect. Get your pedals, and a seat.... It's set up for an adjustable steering height,so keep that in mind when looking for the parts. Look at race kart suppliers for this.
In the mean time, keep an eagle eye out for a dirt bike engine (or atv if you want reverse.) in the 80-250cc range. I'm pretty sure that chassis will handle a 250, but not a 2 stroke that size. Maybe a 125 2stroke, punched..... :wai::2guns::2guns:
I'm envious of you at the moment. :censored: I would like a frame just like that. I would definitely see how much punishment it could take...... BUT with TLC of course.....:lolgoku:

Might be getting a CR125 with a broken fork and includes clutch and a handful of other things for $100. Wondering if this is a good deal and how much can I do to upgrade the engine? I don't mind rebuilding it from scratch myself. I've rebuilt gm 350's and a handful of engines just nothing this small but i dont see it to be so much of a problem.

Can you direct me to a site that would have parts for this engine so i can out perform it to unlock its true potential please? Like the pred 212 has on this forum. I just notice there isnt much for links towards engine comparisons and the potential it has nor what each engine has its ups an downs for. I wish i was more knowledgable so i can start creating more threads to help more peeople.

The thing to understand here is the 212 Predator is based on the Honda GX200, as are all chinese clones of this type; therefore, many performance parts, mods, etc are common & plentiful...

The problem with dirt bike (or even road bike) engines is, due to the number of variants, makes & models available, a database of all of them would be massive...

This one comes down to someone with experience & knowledge of the particular engine you have in mind poking their head in...

Ah understandable. I didnt really think of it that way at first.

Is there was way to make a great deal and over all well rounded cr125 though? Im reading on things i could do from expoxing the case to port and polishing but nothing major like swapping out the components except a piston.

I just want to make sure the cr125 is truly what i ideally want in my cart. I got a few days to decide. I want to cover all the powerbands have a nice firm pull and top end but with little to no lag asking for it when i open that throttle.

The way I see it, as long as the engine runs well, you shouldn't have a problem...

By using the same gearing that exists on the bike (I mean the same sprockets), the smaller wheels on the kart will increase the amount of low end torque, improving acceleration but, it will lower the top speed slightly (not that I think that will be a major problem, those things MOOOOOOVE :auto:

Tim, we have a list of vendors already posted. Have you not seen that thread?
That 125 in stock form, will have you grinning from, er scratch that..... That 125 is gonna make you kick yourself in the @$$ cause you haven't done it till now. You won't need to modify it. Just run it. It's more than plenty for what you want. You ill not know what to do with yourself because you can't stop :bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::auto::auto::auto::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

Yes cause you can't squeeze a 2 &1/4 spindle in a 2" bracket.....
Ok i just didnt know if there was a standard or something. Same thing with rear axle i have to measure? Whats the best way to digure what i need? Also should i get a posi or use the solid as a locker?
What sprocket size should i get? Should i keep the clutch from the dirt bike?

I finally got some measurements and I can't confirm the frame but I'm thinking its just rolled steel tubes the weight it there so I'm going to guess the worst and say its not chromoly.

Heres the measurements I took today so I can start working on ordering parts. Anyone might want to chime in on my measurements so I have more of an Idea what I'm working with and maybe this is a better close up so you can see what little brackets are on my frame I'm working with.
