if the frame is aluminum, welding will be more complicated. but the pre-built frame might save you some time.

its a free plan from this D.I.Y. site. go back to the main page and look around at the kart and minibike plans. the 26 inch bike is modified and a new bottom part is constructed. i think its neet.--phil

its going to be tough to do without a welder. you have to make quite a few small parts and weld alot. i am useing a mc92 McCulloch kart engine.(2cycle)--phil

ok thanks. good idea going with a 2 stroke. it will give you alot more power than using a 2 and 1/2 briggs, or something liek that. could you post pics? where do you have the chain going crank or rear wheel? i once found a site that slod 2 stroke motors that went on mountain bikes that included everything for 199$ i think. but pics would be fantastic.

I built a sidecar for my sons bike once. I was fun but the problem I had was that the bike frame was a alloy of some type and the weld wouldnt hold for long. You are almost better off making the connections bolt on. As far as your idea goes, you sound like all of us at one time or another! good luck
