We decided today how we are going to hook up our gas pedal to the throttle cable to the carbs. However, we will need to combine two separate conduits to make this work. What is the best way to connect two cable conduits like this? Our first thought was to butt them up against each other, go over with some electrical tape, and then heat shrink some tubing over the area. I'm sure there's a better way... the idea is to have it be strong, somewhat flexible, and for the cable on the inside to run smoothly through. Thanks!

Why can you not use a single length?

If you insist on using two, find a bit of tubing- steel, copper, aluminum, whatever- with an ID close to the OD of the conduit. the tubing need only be an inch long. Butt the two lengths of conduit together, slide the tube over, and wrap over the splice with some electrical tape. That's one way. I could probably think of several.

The reason we are planning to splice the two conduits together is that the snowmobile engine had a very short throttle cable (maybe 4') but it has the conduit retainer that screws into the carbeurator bracket crimped onto one end of it. We need this retainer, but even if we can take it off, I don't know if we'd be able to re-crimp it onto a new piece of conduit. We bought a new 74" throttle cable from BMI and we plan to use the inner cable from that, put the original 4' conduit w/ retainer over it, and use the rest of the new cable's conduit for the rest of length we need. Not sure if that makes sense. Is there a simpler/better way to do this without having to find a conduit retainer that would fit our carb bracket (already tried and couldn't). Thx!

Most any good hardware store (like Ace) will sell NPT brass fittings like these pics to splice your cable housings together.

You'd just need 1 union similar to this first pic:

Plus 2 nuts and 2 Ferrel's like this pic:
(you could use the cone type Ferrel's shown in this pic, or Barrel type Ferrell's work fine for cable housings too)
