Well something went wrong on my first trip.

I went around the street this AM and heard a thunk about 5 mins in

When I got in the drive way I noticed the jack shaft (3/4") is bent.

Just for info My TC40 is on the JS with the 10T which goes
to the 2nd JS with a 29T. Then the 2nd 10T which goes to a 27T
on the axle.

Any ideas what to change to resolve this in the future.

Move the pillow blocks and or sprockets. You could put in another piece of steel to move the pillow block on the bent shaft closer.....move the back one over towards the wheel (but it looks like you would run out of shaft as is).

Simplest to at least slightly improve the situation is move the sprockets as close to pillow blocks as possible.

Maybe it is the picture, but it looks like the Jackshafts are NOT parallel. This could cause a problem.

Poboy, Not sure if I understand. Are you basically say to shorten the length of the jack shaft between the jack shafts.

My thought was to add a pillow block in between the torque and the 10T gear. This will give a spread of only about 5 inches.

???

When I saw the picture as well I had to go back out and make some
measurements. But they are parallel.

Right...that would make it bullet proof....What I was saying just to make it a little better is to move the sprockets as close to the wheel as possible....see how that would also reduce the chance of bending anything?

Thanks Poboy,

moving the sprockets close to the wheel will make more since. Shorting the
Jackshaft between the pillows will make it stronger.

Thanks again for all your help.

I will need to order some new parts and do some more welding, painting etc.

Dang!

Anyway you slice it you need to add another pillow block to the center of that shaft and replace that bent shaft. There is a lot pulling on that shaft also while you're at it add another pillow block to the one in front of it just incase.

What I am thinking is for the one that is bent is to replace it and install a pillow block in the center.

Then and the rear JS moved all the sprockets to the far left. Then cut the JS in 1/2 and move
Pillow over to the left in (center) of current JS. This will reduce the area to about 5-6 inches between blocks.

I was amazed how much power is on this JS to bend it.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone. I order new parts come Payday. I start pulling it apart and welding and paint again! :(
