bar stool madness

I gotta say what a cool toy and hats off to your fabrication skills max attention to detail i bet its loads of fun!. I still have got to put in a lot more hours on my first build till i am at your stage.
I like you have built my trike with the thought in my head if it breaks i will make it stronger next time. The one thing i have discovered in building mine is that there are not hard and fast rules for building something like this you kinda make it up as you go along!
I would be very proud having a bar stool of your quality in my shed it has given me a few ideas for my next build I think i shall have to go for four wheels next time. Maybe your next project should be a Bar to go with that stool! (sorry that is just a mad British thought lol)

:wai:Don't think just weld:wai:

Ha ha thanks man!! I actually have been scouting for a mini bike frame to mabe build a 3 wheeler like yours. I appreciate the kind words. I'm just a back yard fabricator that's overly ambitious. So far she's been holding up great. I have a buddy that's around 240 that ride it. After warning him multiple times he struck the throttle. Wheelied across the yard over the drive way and right into the fence.. She didn't take much damage. Little bumper scuff and he rolled off the back and busted the spark plug. It's all fixed up though. Another buddy is 380 and I kept telling him he had to ride it. He rode it like a champ so I guess my welding skills held up!!

Hi! very nice looking racer! I'm new to this forum and I've been wanting to build a bar stool racer for a while for something fun to have around at home. I'm currently in a manufacturing class at my high school and we are currently in the process of designing a project to make for ourselves and I would love to make one of these. The only problem I have is I don't know exactly how to design a frame for what I would want to make, or even just finding plans for one in general. I was wondering how did you go about designing the one you made and what kind of pointers could you give? or maybe you could point out where a good place to find plans for one are.

and congrats on winning fan of the month!

Edit: Would you mind me asking around how much did it cost to build this?

To be honest with you man I just grabbed some tube and started bending. I knew what I wanted it to look like but I wasn't sure the degree of bends and what not. That was all on the fly. I know some one mentioned minichoppersocal.com has the frames as well as comet kart sales. That's what I designed it after but I made it a little longer and a little wider as I'm a little bigger dude and wanted it to be comfertable. I used the cheap harbor freight tube bender but I have a bad *** knotcher from jd2. That makes the difference. I know people often have great luck with harbor freights knotcher as well after some modification. I started to jot down the degrees of the bends on paper I think it's still in the garage if your interested. I'm afraid to tell you how much I got invested in it. Lol you guys would probably think I'm insane. Pm me if you really wanna know. I can tell you that I only have mabe 60 bucks in the frame and my time. If you put a small 5 or even the 6.5 that harbor freight sells you would only be in around 99 bucks. I put the best of the best on this thing and did stuff like the switch on the bars that is the start/ stop ect and the head light. The battery ect for electric start. You could build one for around 1k or less depending on what direction you take. I'm just a perfectionist and like clean builds. This is definitely one of my best yet. If you do a search there's tons of plans online you can purchase. You could do square tube or round. You don't nessesarily have to have a bender either. I've seen guys use the square tube and just angle cuts instead of bending the front like I did. I'll post a picture to show you. Just search google pictures and gather ideas. Then just grab some steel and start workin with it. Don't forget I Also hopped the engine up a bit that was added cost. Mostly for space under the seat but non the less. Only pointer I can give you is just go for it. It's only steel. You can't exactly mess it up, and if you do luckily it's easily fixable.

just so you all know i live on a working horse farm. this bar stool isn't just a pretty face, she does work...

there was a full load of sticks and other brush under that too, and i hauled over 8 loads of brush to my burn pile from down limbs ect over the winter. they weren't small loads my no mens either. all with the tav2 clutch everyone talks about not holding up with over 8hp engines. so far I've beat this thing like it owes me money and worked it like a mule and the belt looks brand new. oh and that little blue thing is a wireless speaker that freakin jams off my internet radio app on my phone!! winning!
