Someone tell how to adj the belt. Running 40 series clutches and matching belt. When you hit high speed belt catches on rivets in bottom of driven clutch and will stop cart. I do some work on golf carts and if their belt is right you will only have a half inch of up and down. I have tried this on go cart no luck.
Thanks

You measure the center to center distance. The diameter of the secondary clutch and go to the chart to get the correct Genuine Comet Belt!! GoKart Supply has a nice chart. 40 series correct?

Had read about a 7 inch driven clutch and a 8 can anyone tell me what the difference is? Is the driver different? Yes I know one is 7 and other is 8 lol!

Lets see a good close up picture of the driven unit, and it's orientation to the driver. Size ( diameter ) is completely irrelevant, aside from gear ratio. Turning direction and type of spring ( forward or reverse wound ) in the driven clutch matter.

On a 40 series the driver is the same and you can have either a 7 or 8 inch driven.
If your hitting the rivets either you have a narrow belt or the unit isn't assembled correctly.

Pics help us tremendously.

Same thing as golf cart cvt.

That works perfectly.
I think you have the cam buttons of the driven on the wrong side and the wrong wound spring for that orientation. If you can turn it around and space the driven out more to line up it should work.
Or get the reverse wound spring and run it in that orientation.

You need a reverse wound spring. Much easier than trying to reorient the driven clutch. Cost around $15 and will FIX YOUR PROBLEM instantly. Right now the driven clutch is opening up all the way as soon as you apply power. That's why your belt is getting down to the rivits. The spring is a easy 20 minute install.
Don't he-haw around, don't even think about it. BUY the reverse wound spring and put it in.
