This may really be a stupid question but a buddy give me a yard kart and it has a belt drive system on it.Does the drive clutch move in to sandwich against the belt or move out to let the belt drop in the groove? Also the rear pulley does not have a torque converter setup on it.Its just a pulley on a keyway.I put a new belt on it that litterally lasted 2 minutes and did not pull very good at that.I will add pics later of the setup when I get home, just curiou on how belt drive clutches are supposed to work?

Yea Pics will be a must for this one hahaha

I can still help though, the drive clutch end moves together to squish the belt, by being two conical faces this increases the diameter of the driving pulley and makes the kart go faster.

The driven end where you say is just a pulley should be a spring loaded expandable pulley, so that when the front end increases the belt tension the back compensates. Without that it would be eating through belts and not really doing anything yea

"Can anyone tell me what type of clutch this is?The belt is one that I bought from tractor supply so it may not even be the right type?Anyone see anything wrong here?"Thanks for the help in advance.

I cant tell you on the belt itself, but I can say that looks like a belt drive centrifugal clutch.
