This will be my first Kart to build, but I'm no newbie to electrical testing/circuitry.
I'm hoping for this kart to run at 24v, with two automotive batteries mounted on either side. Or marine/lawn batteries too, whatever can save weight. I weigh approx. 220 pounds, and am allowing 140 lbs. total with the seat frame and wheels/tires mounted. I plan on using tubing.
I work at an Electric Co-Op that hosts an Electric Vehicle Rally using EVMaster kit karts, and looking at their system, it is one DC motor powering one wheel on the rear. I would hope to use a similar system, possibly with four wheels being powered (if I could figure out a way to do that without having mass of understeer, but that may be too troublesome).
Aside from that, I am not familiar with designing around things such as running time, power, and such. Most of my electrical experience is with automobiles, where the alternator charges the battery. Any info on DC motors, hooking up batteries, controllers, throttle linkage, all of that would be much appreciated. Building the frame would not be hard at all.
