Im new to electric powered karts and such and im planning to do a few electric powered projects one of which is a simple kart. The only motors i seem to be able to source where i am are industrial motors but they run on well over 100v, the one i have been interested in is 360v. Can someone help me? Can i use a transformer to gain more voltage or is the sacrifice of current to much? Any help would be great thanks

Forget high voltage or AC motors unless you have very deep pockets and electrical design and safety knowlege. :rolleyes3:

There are plenty of "scooter motors" on the market. You should consider 48v max systems for your project. Overvoltaging a 24 or 36v system might be worth considering too.

Check out this 4wd electric go kart video I was watching last night. :wai: There is a follow up vid where they converted it to 1000w motors! This might give you inspiration. Good luck!
