Wow nothing like the mass produced over rated beers you all are talking about. If you want good beer try the small micro breweries that are with in your demographical area. If you actually want good tasting beer those are your best bet, unless you are on a budget.

Saint Arnolds is a great brewery in Houston but none of their beers chock up to being a favorite for me, I love them for their spirit, local fervor, and great bocks but its no Shiner. Heck, Shiner is as close as I need to be for a micro.

Hence my post about bud tasting like liquified *** mixed with old socks.

well if you live in texas, this place might have some near you.. http://www.newbelgium.com/ They make good beer, actually really good beer. And this is what I meant by micro brewery, they have a limited area of distribution. If you happen to find any of their beer, try the Fat tire. But don't get me wrong, Shiner is a good beer. I just like something that is different, and adds more flavor.

Yeah, I've had Fat Tire on tap several times at local bars dude. Its not bad. Saint Arnolds wins my vote for local brewery. Its just not the same until you've had a beer with the owner of the brewery.

I wouldn't quite consider Colorado anywhere near me considering how long it takes to leave Texas from any direction but Fat Tire is good. Saint Arnolds is like 30 min from my house, can't beat it.

Being (mostly) a non-drinker, I've only had a few different beers, just never cared for the taste of them all that much. Coors wasn't great, Budweiser was okay ............. but the best actual beer I've had was a brew named San Miguel.

Now, as for the root beer, A&W or Barq's, any day......

Limes in beer are a trendy marketing ploy. Adding any citric acid to any alcoholic drink will reduce the alcohol taste and add a refreshing flavor. But the remaining lime in an empty bottle will attract fruit flies rather quickly. A good beer doesn't need lime to make it palatable.

I prefer a good microbrewed IPA or Stout to the common soda-pop beers like Corona, Miller or Bud. As for Coors or any light beer, just pour those directly into the toilet and eliminate the middle man.

Shiner Bock is pretty close to the top of my list. I haven't had it since I left Texas, though. I've been living in Missouri for the past 14 years.

One of my other favorites, and you should try it some time, is Labatt Blue. It's really good stuff.

There's a very small brewery in Kansas City called Boulevard Brewery. They make an unfiltered wheat beer that's excellent. Probably can't get it in Texas, though.
