Beer Crate Go Kart.

Here's my beer crate go kart that I made. Electric, 600watt controller with a 1200watt motor, so I'm not getting everything out of it. 6" solid rubber wheels, 3/4" Live axle, disk brake. Really fast, and uncomfortable ride. 15-18mph, feels like 95. I'm going to try and take it apart and sand blast it at school this week hopefully.

what is the gear ratio?
What is the range?

2.5 Miles about, riding it pretty hard though. 7amp hour batteries. 36 volt.
Ratio is 11:55 so like 5:1.

Looks nice, although I also don't think it is comfortable to ride. 15mph-18mph sounds pretty impressive for such a small vehicle. Upload a video please

Rode it after it rained today on the wet street, had little water roster tails behind the back wheels and spun them through the puddles. All the important electronics are pretty much sealed and protected from the water.

ive been wondering about this for a while and your post brought it back to memory.

how big is yours? wheels will be outside or inside?

I saw this a gas one with everything inside the crate. and wondering how to design it all in such a small area.

I agree electric would be the way to go. I just find it amusing when you dont see wheels just a floating crate flying down the road. ide just like to sww what kind of engineering makes parts small enough and strong enough to fit 100% inside a crate and 15mph is plenty.

my thought is a chopped up one of these? scavenged for wheels and drivetrain etc.

theres a guy in my area selling 5X gas versions of carts like these for $ 1200 for all 5 or 375 each.

there too small for me but I was thinking of re purposing them for more fun

Mine is bigger than the one if the video, but it's still pretty small. The wheels are on the outside.

I do NOT think i would like to see teh scars left on that idiot riding that one on the video. With a package that small you pretty much better not make ANY mistakes or even hit a pregnant knat cause if you do your going FLYING! him wearing sandle's too...oh man that is gonna leave a mark!


On the other hand i see why skinny fellas would like these. But no way could I fit on one and drive any more than say 5-10...any faster and i would feel scared to death!

This seems like it would be a nice cheap project minus the engine. Looks like you used bicycle handlebar frame. This would be perfect for my street

If there were several people interested in plans, I could probably through up some simple ones, I wouldn't be able to do that for a couple weeks though I'm pretty busy.
