as you said.. two parts..
pop it open and the bearing should be a lot easier to remove.
clamp the bearing in a vise (not the retainer) maybe add a Washer on the flat side to have clearance,
if tightly clamped the retainer should still be able to spin.
got that? great...
now take a small blade (Knife preferred) and a mallet and be careful not to hurt yourself,
as said.. that thing will have almost no grip at all when it's spinning, so a narrow edge (chisel screwdriver etc) can easily find it's way into your leg.
be gentle and work your way around.
And as always, soaking in penetrating oil prior applying force will help
