Pillow block bearings are a good choice. I use them and have had no trouble.
However, I would personally go for the cast iron style, not the pressed steel type, due to strength.

I would prefer the cast ones as well, but these are 1/4 the cost. These are rated at 1050lbs of dynamic load at 5100rpm. The rear of the cart (being built for little kids) will probably weigh in at 70lbs, so I don't think strength will be a problem but that's why I'm asking.

They are made offshore no question there. But I put a set on the kart I built for my daughter and haven't had any issues, up to and even over 40mph.

As with anything your mileage, and experience may vary. I'm just providing an alternative.

No worries, I'm not trying to put them down, I'm always open to alternatives. Just curious about who/where they come from. Heck, for that price you could have a couple of spares on the shelf as backups, or as the basis for your next project...

That's a great deal - but I wonder who makes them? I've seen a HUGE difference in quality between US and Chinese bearings. Probably not enough to matter on something like a jackshaft, but enough to matter in something like hanging an axle. Just curious...

the Chinese do ok with bearings today
Infanct these US ones are probs made mostly in china and the US
Adds the grade or soothing to claim it is made in the US

Japanese make the serious good ones
