...Or you will have to deal with crap like this. With a snapped off bolt in the head, its not terribly fun.

:cheers2:

penetrating oil, patience.. bolt extractor...
PITA but doable I'd say.

I've just seen the link to jim white engineering (anderkart posted that in a different thread...)
anyways..

looked at his' exhaust headers and saw a very beefy mount..
frankly my thought was it MIGHT be a bit overkill...

Now seeing that pic... it might NOT ;)

Well, it looks to me that it was "sucure" but the bolt head sheared off.

This stuff happens all the time and can be fixed with some elbow grease and patience like Sid says. But since we have no time at all for such nonsense and tomfoolery, just toss that engine into the nearest receptacle or rubbish bin and buy a replacement.

The victim here is a 78ish Tecumseh OH14. Seems these engines have a hobby of the exhaust valve seat coming out. I bought this head with the broken off bolt on ebay.

I used the pipe and threaded in into the head to what I thought was tight... I didnt want to crack the head by threading it in too far. Didnt brace the end. Virbrations work it loos and murdered the threads.

I drilled out the broken bolt. Tapped for 3/8 16. Drilled out the exhaust flange for the 3/8 bolt. Im not giving up on this old dog yet!
