Please forgive me asking this as I’ve read several posts and stickies. What do you gain by increasing volts. From what I’ve read, a lower voltage motor can produce the same performance as higher volts.
That's probably somewhat true but you're looking at a specific motor rated at 48v for 1000w. If you had a motor rated for 2000w at 24v and you run it with 24, it's probably going to outperform your 48v setup (depending on weight, motor design, controller, maybe other factors.)
Someone who knows more about this may chime in but really it's a question of apples and oranges.
There is a point of diminished retruns on increased voltage, I believe primarily because of increased heat and insufficiently designed components.
It eventually boils down to watts, volts, amps, and maths.
