Just now I had a very close call:
I was grinding in the workshop, when all of a sudden I heard a bang like a gunshot. This band was a large 12v battery that exploded. ****. My dad has just gone off to clean it up, and I just cleaned myself up, just in case any of the acid got on me. My dad tells me now that batteries produce hydrogen when charging. Oops.

Also my dad tells me it has been charging for a few days and he forgot to take it off. That can't have helped

what are you talking about? and no battery should need water now and again... a good car battery should rarely need water to be placed in it...

You know, the older batteries where you check and top off the water every once in a while. Like after its been sitting for a while, and you go to charge it...
