I've got no idea what that is, but it just drips COOL!

Even if it's just somebody's old FrankenKart, it has so much character I'd just clean it up and run it as is. Love the dual carbs, though! They look like Tillotsons to me, but that's not my forte. See if Russ checks these pics- pretty sure he'd know. Might be able to ID the engine, too. I'd call it a 2-stroke, but that's as far as I go with it.

Engine looks like a Westbend. Were also manufactured by Chrysler and perhaps a couple of others. Power Bee is another name associated with this engine. Is now built by United States Motor Power Inc.
They are still in production.
Please, please do not molest this kart. It most definitely has value "as is". Engine perhaps more so. Twin carbs with original Azusa velocity stacks and Gem High Performance reed plate.
You lucky bastard.

Yah drooling cool.

Not sure about the mirrors though. Do you research and find out just what you have before you do anything. Can you post pic of the rear mounts? Does it look original to the frame back there?

The engine is a West Bend 820
Depending on the model will put out 8 to 10 HP 135cc @ 8k rpm
Us into vintage karting know they are capable of of 25+ HP and 12k to 14k if properly done.

I have tons of info on these engines if you need it.
And would be interested in buying it should you ever want to part with it.
As for the chassis it is an early 60's enduro perhaps a Caretta or Hartman that has some old modifications done to it, rare and collectable, but not a so rare you found the missing link by any means, rare meaning cool, and defiantly a piece of kart racing history.

"In 1967, a company called Reaction Dynamics built a record-breaking dragster powered by a 90% hydrogen peroxide rocket motor. This car was the inspiration for many rocket powered vehicle builders in the 70’s, among them (back again!) Jack McClure with a hydrogen peroxide rocket-powered laydown kart. The kart, which resembled a Margay, was actually custom designed by Jack and built by Glenn Blakely of Tampa Florida. Jack fitted this kart with an engine built by Arvil Porter that produced 1000 lbs of thrust."

"This is Jack McClure's Kart after replacing the 1000 lb thrust rocket with the larger 1500 lb motor. This kart turned 215 mph in the quarter mile!"
