Good morning folks, I'm ordering parts for a barstool racer and I'm trying to decide on a 1" or 1.25" axle. This is my first build so I have no experience with either. I'm also looking for suggestions on wheels & tires. I will be running mostly yard and dirt. Thank you guys.

I can't imagine a need for 1.25 axle. How much this thing gonna weigh?
l would chose a size based on ease of locating the hardware that attches to the axle

Are there any photos of a barstool racer you're trying to emulate? I'd post those photos of designs you like and we can go from there. Super easy to post pics off your device or from the web.

I'd suggest the rattiest low cost wheels and tires (Harbor Freight wheels baby!) because Bidenomics ruined everything, but you might be going SUPER KUSTOM and want the bling bling and leopard skins.

That's what I thought too. I noticed all the racers online you can get pre built have 1.25 I thought it seemed overkill.

This is the picture I am working off of. I downloaded the diy files but it didn't have any specifics on the axle or tires/wheels

Well, those are Racing Kart (Shifter kart/Sprint kart) wheels and tires. The "diy files" were (probably) written by someone who thinks the wheels and tires are obvious and commonplace.

The rims are commonly 3-lug across the board. Here's a starting point but there are hundreds of sites. I can only say I've ordered from BMI for non-racing kart supplies and can say they are a legit vendor. https://www.bmikarts.com/racing-go-kart-parts
