Progress Pics of Yerf dog 3203

Everyone knows the steering geometry sucks on these karts.

With no maneuverability and poor turning radius I have decided to buy a set of dual A-Arms, spindles, hubs and rotors plus some heavy duty tie rods that are superior to what came on the 3203.

Found a set off a 90's model Yamaha Banshee

This will also allow me to add some much needed hydraulic disc brakes to the front wheels, as well as dual A- Arms and longer shocks for much better handling.

Tires are also coming off a Yamaha Banshee on front and will be 21x7-10's and rears will be 22x11-8.

I started with the frame bare and replaced all the bearings, widened the axle to 50", new 60t sprocket on axle, 8t sprocket on jackshaft coupled to a new comet 30 series torque converter.

Bought a new motor mount and chain, new grip tape for the floor, added some nerf bars and wrapped them in vinyl graphics made for a Spiderbox.

Pictures to come in the morning.

Reason Im here is to get some help or pointers along the way in fabbing this thing up proper.

Thinking weld up some sort of box nose on the front of the kart.

Then mounting a arms on the new square tubing we added to the kart up front. This will also allow me to widen the front end more and help this kart from flipping so easily.

Pictures and more questions in the morning

This is a good idea

Goes around the same ideas as my first kart

The only issues with quads front end is the geometry is all wrong

I had to do it twice
Lol

Ended up cutting off the original mounts and putting heim joints in so it's all adjustable

The only thing that's hard to fix is the akerman
But in an off road karts it's not an issue

Can you elaborate?

Give me the pointers or the pictures and references you used to make this right....

I plan on having ackerman as best as possible and much better than what it has now.

I am taking it to fab shop sunday which is basically a week. Hes already been to the house with all kinds of crazy ideas while looking at it.

I wanna have a pretty good idea on how to weld it up and be able to show the guy. Hes doing it as a favor.

Basically beer, bbq, and pay for material!

Make an afternoon of it!!!:backtotopic:

any build logs?

I've searched but dont come up with much on this site...

On the search goes I suppose!

Thanks

got my 22/11-8 dirt devils on the rear

rear tires mounted.
My son took her out for the first time.
The new tires and lower gearing make a huge difference,

he was able to mow through 5 foot tall grass in our pasture with ease.

this stuff is thick too

torque converter stayed in low gear motor was running about 4000 rpms just pushing right over everything in sight with him and I.

Total weight of us is probably 300 lbs easy!

sorry i took so long to get back
been back on 12hr days at work

i do have a thread

but most of that is the first build when i stuffed it up
once i got it back home and modded it it was all good but non of those pics made it to this site
the kart is now 950km from where i am

first a question for u to save alot of typing from me

do u know what all the angles are and what they do already?
caster
camber
kpi
akerman and so on

the only way to correct the akerman is to cut off the steering arms and re weld them

edit
here mine

mine will be similar but set up more like a +6.0 atv

I want it wider in front so I get a little less traction in the rear.

I want the a$$ end to be a little squirley:cornut:

As far as the angles, yes I am familiar.

This is a back yard kart will never be driven over 40 mph

Ok so I got my shocks in today.

One pair from a yamaha banshee

One pair from a honda 400 trx

AS much as I want to keep it yamaha up front,

I think I am gonna put the Honda shocks up front.

They are about 1.5 inches longer
