Hey, I just got a kart that i am currently working on. I got it from a guy that did not take no kind of care of it. I bought a new HF 6.5 motor and put on there. And it gives me good speed stock. I have not went full speed yet because i have no BRAKES.. Lol But anways i order some band brakes for it.

I also had to order a brake rod because there was no rod for the brake on the pedal. Well once i get the rod and the band brake. Is it hard to wire up the brand brake? Does it just go on top of the clutch housing thing?

Normally you have a drum on the driven wheel (or axle if 2wd) You can run the band on the clutch if you have too, but you are SOL in the event of chain failure.

Pictures would help.

Oh, Well the kart had no brakes on it what so ever. I think the guy before me ruin the brakes or something because it had no brakes. So i have to redo the whole brake assembly.
Here are some pictures of when i first got it.. The only thing that is different now is that i put a 6.5hp HF motor on it :)
So i need to order a dum also then? And connect the drum onto the chain sprocket? Because I only bought the band brake and the pin thing.. Thinking i can just use my clutch housing

This is when i first got it. But now i changed the motors and once i get brakes.. I am going to give it a nice paint job :)

Alright. I will get a picture of my driven wheel. It is basically just a sprocket and the chain is on there..

I might just use the clutch drum for now till i start doing upgrades on the engine then i will need to change it.

I wouldnt suggest doing that, especially if you live in the city and ride on-road. When setting up a new engine, theres a chance your chain could be misaligned and slip off when riding.

Oh. I will probably just go ahead and order another drum and mount it onto the chain sprocket.

But i am wondering i have no brake assembly. So i order this
A brake rod and band brake.

I have a bike cable i am going to use to wire the band to the rod. And i will put a spring on the brake pedal so it will retract back up.

Will that work fine?
