band brake on a 1"live axle help

making a small electric kart with a top speed of maybe 10-12mph. Rear axle will be a 1" live axle and i'm wanting to do a band brake. looking at some from tnc scooter. http://tncscooters.com/product.php?sku=104310
Im wondering how this would work, or if it would on my axle. Would i need something else to go with it?

that wont work unless you make a threaded attachment on the axle.

wha is your 1" axle anyway?

d bore? keyed? id assume keyed... but you never know.
