Baja Warrior - Front Fork Replacement

I am toying with the idea of keeping my Baja Warrior but would def like to get new front forks. The current ones could use replacement... they still work fine however I would prefer new ones.

This is the parts list I am going off of http://bajamotorsports.com/files/pa...00_MB200C_117_rpl & r_ref only_01_9.24.12.pdf and the part in question is 46 either black or silver I really do not care.

987987001 MB200-160 Front Fork (Silver)

When I search online it shows as discontinued, anyone know if any others will fit on here with no issue? I checked with GoPower and they have the Coleman ones but they do not fit the Baja as the diameter is different.

Figured if anyone knew this group would.

Here's why they are discontinued (at least my best guess)...

Description:
This recall involves Baja Motorsports gas-powered mini bikes manufactured during November 2014 and December 2014. The recalled mini bikes have a black frame with a black padded seat, a storage tank and fenders that are camouflage, side reflectors, a headlight and a tail light. A decal with model number "Baja Warrior 200" inside a circle with wings attached is on both sides of the storage tank. The date of manufacture is printed on the bottom right of the Vehicle Emissions Control Information label in the MM/YY format. The label is attached to the front side of the engine.


Remedy:
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mini bikes and contact Baja Motorsports to schedule a free repair.

Incidents/Injuries:
The firm has received 22 reports of the front forks separating from the wheel, including 11 reports of minor injuries.

Oooh interesting. I am not the original owner of this bike but may contact Baja see if they would do anything in this case. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, I called Baja and my VIN is part of the recall. The operator did ask me to discontinue using the bike asap (legal stuffs of course) and I will have to bring it in to a service center to get fixed, not sure what fixed means yet though. Now just awaiting a call back from Baja to tell me where to take it in.

I think what happens is the lower part of the forks separates from the top part of the forks. I guess this means the front wheel comes off. So no jumping until you fix it. If you post up some pictures, I'm sure somebody will see the issue and come up with a solution.

Maybe even a google search for "warrior front forks fix"?

You are probably right bob58o, the forks look weak and why I wanted something better. Baja called back and I have to drop off the bike on Monday or Tuesday with a local shop who will replace the parts. No one seems to be able to tell me what parts but will know more when I get it back.

Where did you find Baja number? I thought they went out of business. When did you buy yours again??

Called the phone number in the link below. I bought mine second hand so not sure when it was originally bought but it was manufactured 11/14 according to the VIN so it qualified for the recall.

I got my bike back today and it seems, from what I can tell, that what was replaced was the front forks and that is it. The shop where the bike was showed me that they took off the old forks and put on new nothing else was replaced. However from a quick ride it does feel a little better on the suspension but it is new forks so there is that. The shop charged $75 to Baja for labor and now it is time to take it all apart and start the rebuild .
