Baja Doodle Bug Paint Job? What Color?

Okay so while i have pulled the engine out and have the thing apart i guess i should paint it. But what color do i use? do i keep the cool warning labels? does it matter? I want to strip it down and put some color on it. It is red now. like a dull Honda red.



Sticker on front is already coming off!

Thinking a bright color like neon green or orange.

Maybe Black and White like a cop bike.

So maybe instead of getting pulled over they just let me go because it looks like im a cop! na that wont work..... Okay maybe Army Green?



So many good colors and themes to pick from. Maybe i need a good theme! that will help with colors.

I was going to put a poll up but maybe you guys just make some suggestions. Show some good color schemes and ill try to pick a good one.

How do they make it look like the flag is blowing in the wind! wow. I need to start practicing. or find a painter that will do for free/fun/practice

Blue would be nice. Too bad the bike doesn't come with the "accessory" on top of the first flag one


What about a black bike, with like a special ops theme??

My doodlebug is going to be flat black with a punisher skull on the from fender, which is very fitting for that one. So far very few have rode it and not crashed. Most just get off real quick and refuse to ride it again.

Okay, i gots me some paint cans and a make shift paint booth.

Starting with front fender. Lets see what i can do.

Start with white primer. Tape off, stick on stars, paint gold base. Then paint the blue, two coats

Touch with finger and screw up paint job.....ugh. oh well more blue....looks bad but im continuing with paint. Tape off paint gold paint red stripes.

Now i need to wait for it to dry so i can do wet sand and clear coat, and buff. May look okay. Not great, but okay.

Whenever I see a paint job like that, I'll always be reminded of that photoshop of Sarah Palin.

So i need to paint the bigger parts. Which means i need a bigger paint booth. So i made one.

Felt like Dexter putting up the plastic.



And to start i will strip the other fender.


Problem now is i can't find my painters mask! Ahhhh. I will find it.

Whenever that happens to me, I just use one of my wife's bras, and when she looks for it, I tell her the dog ate it.

I didnt take pics off all steps on this one. This is rear fender. Tried to be more carefull with this one. Hanging in make shift booth. Stars kind if stuck to white paint and messed it up a little. Tried to fix.

I think it came out okay. Letting clear coat dry now.

WOW I think that paint job looks great. With the 4 of July coming up it will fit right in with the holyday. Do You have any more parts done you could show? Makes me want to paint some projects.
