I would. Either way you should be using an aluminum key, not steel.

Question to the forum experts: does the lugnut crankshaft extension mod in that video actually seem completely viable for long term use or is it, in your opinion, a hack shadetree-mechanic-Bubba duct-tape-and-baling-wire “fix”? The removal of half or more of the key in the bore sort of gives me the willies.
In other words, is it a fix that no self respecting master hack (
) would undertake?

This is what I'm using on my Baja and I'd argue that it's more secure than a using a bolt on a Predator motor. Never owned an engine that wasn't internally threaded on the crank. But for the situation presented in the video, it looks like a complete winning idea.
Yep, the only downfall is you can't use a juggernaut. It has to be a stock T/C.

Ive heard a lot of guys say its not worth the money anyhow... You can accomplish the same thing with a weight/spring swap.
I modified mine and it works fine. But I do feel like juggernauts are made a little better.

Well I knew that but didn’t expect you to reply so soon if at all, but your point of view is biased anyway
in typical fashion. If the lug nut kept getting loose requiring constant wrenching or similar or it failed, shattered, split in half and spun itself right off into low earth orbit and the TC exploded in a million pieces, I would love to hear that too. 
Hope you’re still riding your Baja and the mod is surviving the torture test of daily use and abuse. I am going to re-read this glorious thread, thanks Josh.

Trying to find where you modified the Juggernaut... Which page or have you not posted it?
Haha, yea it is a little biased, but not exaggerated. I've had T/C's explode several times on Predators. Adding lock washers, thread locker, etc helps but it's never full proof. I also managed to damage the threads with medium thread lock on a Predator (I had to remove / install multiple times and somehow the thread jumped and stripped).Well I knew that but didn’t expect you to reply so soon if at all, but your point of view is biased anyway

The lugnut feels so much stronger when wrenching it on....because there's more thread to bite on to. I marked it when I installed it and I've remove it a couple times for some T/C upgrades. It hasn't worked loose even once from the marked location. Since my order came with a 4 pack, if I do ever loose one, I have extras.
I'm still enjoying this bike. It's still mostly stock but I've been accumulating goodies that'll go on this one or my other Predator build bike (spring seat, kick start, stretch brackets, etc). I still ride this one fairly often but haven't had time to wrench on either lately. Too many summer projects are taking my attention.

Sorry, I meant the factory T/C. I returned the juggernaut. The lug nut won't pass through the opening in it.

Don't feel bad about returning the juggernaut. I have had one for several years. We have actually damaged it a couple of times. Heavy two seat kart, very hot 212, running in soft sand. They are a PITA to work on. I've even installed Go Power Sports stage one and two upgrade kit for it. Light weight internal parts. A stock 30 series driver with the
$35 light weights and the $10 garter springs ( your choice ) 6 or 7 different stiffnesses
to choose from, will match anything the juggernaut can do. It will also be more robust, and if you need to work on it, it will be a WHOLE LOT EASIER.
