Hello everyone father of three boys here. After some time I have decided to get back into carting. The last (and only) cart I had was about 25 years ago. I don't remember much other than it was a thunder cart.
A year or two back my brother offered me a kartman cart without an engine. It took me some time to get a motor but I ended up going with a stock predator 212 with an ebay cvt torque-averter thing, tav2 I believe? Anyways I rigged this thing up enough to take it for a top speed run and I ended up going 40 mph, not too bad. It has a 28 tooth sprocket on it now but I ended up cracking the hub in my haste so the chain wouldn't stay on. I ordered a 48 sprocket but that seems too large bolt directly where the stock sprocket was.
My middle son received and coolster 125cc pit bike a week later for making good grades. This was truly a dream come true for him and long overdue. He ended up whisky throttling pretty good, somehow missing the vehicle and a tree. I warned him to take it easy but sometimes trial by fire is the only way. Maybe I should have taken some steps to prevent it but he wasn't injured. He has a sport bike helmet for now and a neck support. More gear will be aquired soo.
The next day we went pick up a buggy, that buggy turned out to be a kandi viper 200. Unfortunately the motor was not with the buggy so we ended up fitting the predator 212 on the buggy. Took her for a a spin and man, what a blast I forgot how much fun this stuff can be!!! My son and I had so much fun!!! Buuuuttt that fun was short lived as the belt melted. after some research i realized there is a flat side and an angled side and that the driver and driven sprocket alignment is crucial. I assumed that we had both wrong and started over. We spaced the sprockets and installed the belt in the correct orientation. My oldest son ended up burning the second belt. The area he was in was saturated with water and super muddy.
Overall we had a blast between fitting the motors and all riding together. I work offshore so time is of the essence most times and I miss alot of things. I am fortunate I was home for the fourth and got to spend time with the family and enjoy some good old fashion fun.
