Now that I'm finally back home after being crazy busy with college, I managed to score an old yerf dog for $100... looks like a model 3200 but I'm not sure. Locked up CVT driver, no pull start, no air filter, no seat pan, shorted kill switch, and something horribly wrong with the carb... dirty as heck and somehow pinholes eroded into the float bowl? How the heck does that happen?
Either way, it's all fixed up by now... plywood seat pan, plywood air filter adapter with cruddy chinese pod I had laying around (realistically the engine's probably already pretty bad on the inside, I just want to keep gravel out at this point), broken spring hook on the CVT driver so I torched the spring and bent a new hook. Float bowl on the carb got a nice smear of jb weld across the inside which filled the pinholes really nicely. Kill switch rebuilt. A bit hard to start since the governor was bypassed but a drill on the flywheel nut works nicely. By now it runs great and I feel like I got one heck of a deal for $100, some scrap, and about 4 hours of work.
On the to-do list is another chamber or two attached to the muffler to be able to use as quick transport in a residential-ish area without upsetting the neighbors, and a new chain and oil change. And some web straps to hold the seat cushion in place. Outside of that I'm a bit hesitant to put much money into a $100 gokart even though I know it's worth well over that.
