Well These engines can rev up to 7000 RPM EASY!! with the Carb they have, it is an evil one too! But under a load im guessing they could push 5500 to 6000 without a problem. My honest opinion is to just keep the governor on it and adjust it for 4000 RPM, You will be plenty fast and have plenty of torque.

I am in need of a clutch for the 5hp, 1'' crank, but the only ones that I have found to fit it are only rated for 7hp,and I may build up my engine sometime. The cvts are nice but I would have to mod my frame to fit one.We had a 5hp kart in Pa that had a centrifugal clutch and that was kinda what I was trying to replicate here, but may need to go with a cvt.The kart will be used in flat areas, like gravel, pavement, and around the field and yard. What do you guys think I should do?:stir:

yea, you can get one for a 1" crank, the cvt will hold up a lot longer and overall give you more power and torque. this is a great buy! HERE but if you have a 40/41 chain this is what you need HERE, idk where you would get a cvt though. CLUTCH RATED TO 8hp, but will work fine on at least 13hp IMO

somewhere along that. The 8hp will eat alot of gas and have alot of low end torque. I think i have a 5hp crank lying around here that has a 3/4" pto on it. If you want to trade the carb on your 8hp, i will give u a 5hp 3/4" crankshaft.

Id flat rate it probably so no more than $11 to ship it. So hows $20 Total? i dont need the crank anymore. I think i have a cam, some lifters and the matching connecting rod to this crank. For $5 more you can have all that included.

Of course a billet rod will work! If you buy a connecting rod also buy some valve springs! Then you can rev that motor good.

I would get the Dual Springs Kit from Comp cams its like $40 out the door. Also the starter clutch tool is like $20, i just use a piece of wood and a hammer and tap it off. The crank i have doest use the starter clutch btw, it uses a nut and starter cup.

eaither you use a starter clutch (like you said you have) or you use a starter cup and nut, you can get the cup and the recoil for it online for under $45
