B&S Fun Power motor revving super high

I have been waiting to post a thread until I had a problem I couldn't figure out. lol I have a problem now. I recently took my 5hp Briggs and Stratton fun power motor apart, cleaned it completely in my fathers parts washer...except the carb, I used carb and choke cleaner for that. After I put it back together, put fresh oil in it, and filled the gas tank, I tried starting it, and after the third pull, it started. after I let it warm up with the choke on, I moved it to the "run" position and the engine immediately revved to what seemed like the rev limit. I don't know what to do to correct this problem. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

Check that all linkage is properly assembled and not binding.

Also- make sure the carb is fitted tightly and that there is no possibility of an air leak between the carb and engine (gasket).

Just checked it all and it seems to be free moving.

I Dont think that there would be an air leak, I used gasket sealer on both sides. I'm going to tighten it up though, just to be sure.

And you're quite sure you put the governor linkage back together correctly and without stretching a spring?

im positive i did, because I found numerous threads about how to put the linkage together properly. and about the spring, I dont think I did. I will take a look at that tomorrow, and take some pictures.
