Well still moving along, Stripped down the frame, cleaned off all that oil they put on new steel to keep it from rusting and moved on to Primer
I have one of the greatest wives in the world! And she does my paint for me.

So while she was painting I found something else to tinker with. The briggs motor I am going to use was on a pressure washer. The plastic airbox says 6.5 hp and the shroud by the pull start says 5.5hp.
Anyway I pulled off the BIG ugly heat shield on the muffler and found this ugly exhaust pipe. it is 3/4" thread in and had a cast iron 90* fitting. So It took that garbage off and made my own pipe out of some old 3/4" gas pipe I had. I put it in my cool HF pipe bender got close to a 90* bend (No kinks, dents, dings, or divets) then welded the muffler to it. I figure this will help it breath a little better.

I located the Briggs model type and code from the engine stamped into the ohv cover. It is a 120000 series 206cc. Meaning it is most likely the 6.5HP model. Cool.

That's not all bad either.....you are bound to get tired of her sooner or later....and I could just slip in with this awesome frame....that just needs a bit of "touch up".....while you are down at HF drooling all over Chinese tools......tsk...tsk.....

Somehow I knew when I said SHE was painting It would come this and from YOU. But on the other hand I did just get my HF 20% off coupon and this is free scissors week.

On my stock Briggs intek motor: If I get rid of the stock plastic air box and replace it with a intake adapter and K&N style filter do I need to also change the carb Jetting to make up for the extra air?

Kinda all over the place here but anyway. Got the frame painted, here are some pics. Yes the floor and seat are just kinda dusted since they get floor mats and seat covers.
Well they are not really dusted this is a Krylon semi transparent paint. Did not realize that till after we started. Semi transparent needed a silver base coat not gray primer. So several coats later we have a dark blue frame. But the paint was cheap, and I have a budget so once we started there was no going back.
But I like it so it is good.

Did some engine work today. Got the governor gear removed and managed to screw up the timing gears. But thanks to Danny t and Sid. I got everything relined up.
Hey live and learn. If I had not made the mistake I would not have learned about timing gear marks on Briggs engines!

It is finished! Came out really awesome. Can't wait till daylight tomorrow to go for a spin.

1 and 2 complete Kart. Stainless steel side panels are actually from 3" downspout gutters found in a dumpster at a jobsite near the coast. Painted the wheels and components Silver to match.

3 and 4 Complete steering system 100% DIY. Custom tie rods and ends attached to bearinged spindle barrels. With Ackerman

Pic 5 Got lights? The frame came with open raw pipe at the rear corners. I had a pair of white 12v Leds so I stole some blue Christmas light covers and glued them in. They flash and look cool in the dark.

Got those bad boys at Wal-mart $13.50 ea. in store in stock. They are 13x5x6 mounted on 6x5 wheels. Fully inflated they are just under 12" tall. Thanks for checking out my Kart!
