Axle length

Hey guys I'm back again and I need some help on measuring an axle my frame is 18 inches in length and I'm thinking of around 36-42 inch axle just wondering if anyone has input for my decision

You mean 18" wide? The thing is you dont want more than 4 or 5 in hanging out past your hangars or the axle will bend.
Also the wider will make it more difficult to turn.
