Axle Bearings?

Okay, so I'm having a problem getting the axle bearings on my 1" steel live axle from bmikarts. I bought 1 in bore bearings. They will not slide over the axle easily. Do they need to be pressed in?

Or, what is the bearing number on the inner/outer race?

Just looking at the bearing in that pic, next to the axle, one of those 2 aren't the right size lol

If he has the correct size bearings, then the shaft most likely need's to be deburred, or he has a size on size issue.

I also bought 1 inch hubs for the wheels and its doing the same thing.

One of three possibilities:

1. The axle has a burr(s)

2. Everything is not the same size

3. You haven't backed out the set screws in the bearings & hubs

When you put a bearing, or hub up to the axle does it look like they should fit, or is the hole in the bearing or hub significantly smaller?

I second a burr or the set screws interferring, but then again are you sure thats not a 1-1/4" axle?

I had a similar problem with the 5/8 bearings and 5/8 "keyed"shaft for my jack shaft. I bought both from MFG supply. The bearings would not go on. I just used a little emory cloth and cleaned up the shaft and Bam! they slipped right on. That would be my first thing to try. Just be very careful of the threads on the axle, you dont want to mess up the threads.
Also I agree with M@lrg. There is probably some burs on the axle shaft due to it being threaded. Mine was probably burred due to the keyway being cut. Just clean everything up a little and if you DO have the correct sizes you should be able to make it work.

I think its the key way, everything slides over the threads just fine. Once it makes it past the threads is when it gets tough to get on.

That would probably explain this.

Go ahead and take some emery cloth, or a file, and lightly go across the top of where the keyway is. Probably just a little extra material there from the keyway being cut.

Filed down the keyway and it slides no problem now! Thanks for the help guys.
